Movie Review

It’s quite an accomplishment for a film-maker to put their own personal stamp on a Multimillion-dollar Studio Production movie quite as understanding as Taika Waititi has done, First with Thor: Ragnarok and now with Thor: Love and Thunder. Zack Snyder operate it; the Movies of James Gunn bear the identifiable Fingerprints of their director. But Waititi is in a dissimilar league. There are little while in Love and Thunder when the film feels like a $185m Megaphone, dedicated simply to amplifying the Voice of Taika Waititi. Response to the Movie will be neatly cut up along the line between those who are satisfy that he can do no wrong and Those who find his brand of cheerful mateyness and disingenuous mawkishness increasingly irksome. I find Myself veering towards the latter Camp.

We join Thor (Chris Hemsworth) in the Midst of an existential emergency, having never fully moved on from his Relationship with Jane Foster (Natalie Portman). The hammer-wielding Asgardian with the unsettling Oxbridge tone is Moonlighting with the Movie Guardians of the Galaxy. There is a moment, after Thor has defeated a bunch of Alien hell-owls on flying bikes, but blast a crystal temple, the cherished organization he was meant to be Protecting, When he is congratulating himself, In his rousing toff voice, in a job well done. And you wonder if a time of satirical political analysis has snuck into the Screenplay. For the most part, however, this Romp, which pits Thor against Christian Bale’s cadaverous God-slayer, is exterior stuff – A film that brings a greeting-card banality to its themes of Love and sacrifice; that harvesting internet memes (screaming goats) in the favour of easy laughs.

The Marvel formula works, sadly

Because they are Right. The fans of Marvel love the formula, for it makes for a enjoyable, unchallenging time at the Movies. In the Theatre where Fans watched the Movie, There were hoots at even clue of humour, but during those silent moments where characters were expressing their feelings? Everybody looked not comfortable, and there were strained whispers, clearly wondering when the onrush of 'feels' will end.
